Notes:

We have completed this project with gratitude to God and in memory of our parents, Lauchlin and Mildred Bethune and John and Virginia Redhead, and in honor of our families. We also celebrate the love for music and instruction given by Dr. Austin Lovelace, of Denver, and the late Florence Hunt, of Greensboro, NC. Added to these blessings are the love, friendship, and support of the members and staff of BIacksburg United Methodist Church, Blacksburg, VA, where Virginia has served as organist since 1989 and Dick served as Parish Associate from 1993-1998.

The compositions recorded on this sampler disk have been selected from a number of different genres in vocal, keyboard, and harp repertoire and represent favorites of Dick and Virginia Bethune.

1. Fanfare for the Common Man: recorded in the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, Front Royal, Virginia. Dick served as pastor there from 1967-1983.
2. Carillon de Westminster (excerpt): recorded on the same instrument; melody played on handbells.
3. A Mighty Fortress is our God: recorded in St. Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr. Lovelace was Virginia's first organ teacher.
7. Toccata and Fugue in d Minor: recorded during worship in Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Blacksburg, Virginia in April 1996, to commemorate the 100th birthday of the American Guild of Organists
8. Komm, susser Tod: recorded in First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, N.C., December 1997 during the memorial service for Virginia's father, pastor of the church from 1945-1970
10. Toccata, from the Fifth Symphony (excerpt): recorded in McEwan Hall, Edinburgh University, Scotland
12. Quiet Land of Erin: played on a 36-string Gothic harp.
26. The Impossible Dream: dedicated to the memory of Ralph Hilton, our son-in-law. July 6, 1960 - January 16, 2002
